  2. Chondranthes Andrea Niesson

    Chondranthes Andrea Niessen *Limited Editiion*

    SKU:CochAndrea/40

Unusual blooms on lush growing plants! These thin-leafed plants will be free flowering when grown under optimum conditions.  Each bloom appears from the base of the foliage, with mature plants producing multiple stems each season.  Flowers are white with mauve-lavender markings across the lip. Usually around 12"-18" tall when mature.

Growing Suggestions: We suggest these for cool to intermediate growing conditions with summer temperatures no warmer than approximately 85 degrees. Plants should be grown in low to medium light, similar to many Paphiopedilums and Phalaenopsis. The foliage is very thin and burns easily in bright light. This genus does not have pseudobulbs to retain water so watering should be done before media has dried completely. Potting media should be moisture retentive, but drain freely to avoid root rot from frequent waterings. Fertilize at half strength, even in spring and summer. High humidity is also recommended, and must be balanced with fresh airflow to prevent leaf spotting.  (May not be suitable as a windowsill grower in all homes.)

We are offering healthy, Blooming Size plants in 4" pots. We expect first blooms on these anytime in the coming 6-12 months, and some have previously flowered.

  4. Epidendrum magnoliae var. mexicanum x self

Epidendrum magnoliae var. mexicanum x self

    SKU:10174/MT

The former name of this species was conopseum, with the definition meaning ‘mosquito like’ blooms. Our seedlings are bred from the relatively larger and more floriferous Mexican form of this rare and unique species. Each bloom stem produces sprays of tiny green and tan blooms in the late summer through the fall. Plants are quite small when mature, usually only six inches or less with flower stems being only slightly taller.

Normally found in nature as an epiphyte, plants grow on oak or cypress trees in lowlands and swampy areas with high humidity. Bright but diffused light is preferred however good air flow is a must to prevent burnt foliage. Water frequently throughout the year, with no rest period.

Our plants are growing (and should remain) on tree fern mounts which can be attached to larger mounts as the plants grow. They arer flowering size and can produce buds anytime.  Please keep in mind this is a very miniature growing orchid.

Miltassia Charles M. Fitch 'Izumi' AM/AOS *In Bud*

A stunning, wam growing selection that hails from the Oncidium alliance.  These showy, arching stems will hold several star-shaped lavender blooms with darker purple markings.  Flowers are long lasting, even in the summer. Plants have robust pseudobulbs topped with thin foliage.  As these mature you can expect multiple inforescences per season making for an impressive show!

This offering is from the primary cross of Brassia verrucosa x Miltonia spectabilis, which makes it a good selection for most warm climates.  Plants will be be happy in 65-85 degrees but can tolerate a winder range if given a chance to acclimate. Medium to bright, filtered light to prevent burning the foliage.  In brighter light, more air flow will be necessary. We suggest watering these once to twice per week just as media dries out.  Do not leave plants sitting in water.  We do provide water, and at least some fertilizer year round for this type of orchid.

We have vigorous growing plants in 4" pots, currently available in spike or tight bud.  Order yours while supplies last!

    Rhyncostylis coelestis 'Blue' *Rare Species*

    SKU:10400/25

This Asian species is prized for its stems of gorgeous blue, lavender or hyacinth colored blooms with a delightful, sweet perfume. Upright stems emerge from the base of vandaceous foliage.  Blooming season in most places is late spring and early summer, but in warm climates, multiple inflorescence can show from March through August.
