Brassavola digbyana ‘Belize #2’ x Brassavola digbyana ‘Crestwood Emerald’

    SKU:9676/25

    Brassavola digbyana

An ever popular species that needs no introduction. Beautiful, waxy green blooms with a deeply fringed lip and a heavenly fragrance. Needs to be grown in bright light and warm temperatures year round.  Plants can be slow to grow, but once they reach flowering size are worth the wait. Should only be grown in media or containers with excellent drainage otherwise plants will easily lose roots from over watering.

We have healthy plants growing in 2.5" pots.

  2. Cattleya bicolor 4N

    Cattleya bicolor 4N

    SKU:9878-9879/30

A tall, slender growing Brazilian species that loves bright light and warm temperatures. Clusters of waxy green blooms with bright fuchsia lips appear above bifoliate foliage. These seedlings are bred from our tetraploid 'Mendenhall-Beta' parent and are expected to have heavy substance and clear, bright coloring.

We are offering seedlings growing in 3" mesh baskets and chunky tree fern media.  We have found that this species does not take well to over watering, especially during the winter months.  Our suggestion for these seedlings is to mist heavily 3 to 4 times per week during the winter, and daily during the warmer summer months. First flowers are expected within twelve months.

  3. Cattleya harrisoniae 'Homestead' x Cattleya harrisoniae

Cattleya harrisoniae 'Homestead' x Cattleya harrisoniae

    SKU:10198/30

Cattleya harrisoniae 'Homestead' x Cattleya harrisoniae

This stunning species originates in Southeastern Brazil and is a lover of warm, bright conditions.  Tall, upright stems of bold heliotrope colored blooms in the middle of summer. Cattleya loddigesii and harrisoniana often have cases of mistaken identity, but this new grex is true and will flower similar to the photo shown.

Best suited for shadehouses, lathehouses, greenhouses and other well-lit growing environments.  As this species prefers a bit of a dry spell over the winter months, this should be grown in a very well draining media that can dry out, or in hanging baskets with coarse media for the roots to cling to.  If grown too damp in the off-season roots will decline rapidly.

We are offering well established plants in 3” mesh baskets, that are already showing growth for this spring.  Plants are expected to reach flowering size in 2-3 years or less, in some conditions.

  6. Cymbidium dayanum album

    Cymbidium dayanum album

    SKU:9233/40

Cymbidium dayanum album 'Lady Elizabeth' CHM/AOS x self

We have found that the seedlings of this award winning parent are fast growers and thrive in lower light levels than most Cymbidiums, though brighter conditions will increase bud count.

Pendant stems of cream and faintly green flowers. As plants mature, multiple bloom stems are expected each year giving this excellent specimen potential.  Thin, grassy foliage that likes lots of airflow to prevent spotting. Great for hanging pots or baskets.

Plants are flowering size and growing in 4" pots.

  7. Dendrobium finisterrae *Unusual Species*

    Dendrobium finisterrae *Unusual Species*

    SKU:10566/25

    Dendrobium finisterrae

Where do you go to find such an unusual looking orchid?  Why to the ends of the earth of course!  This prickly looking species is native to the Finisterre Mountain range in Papua, New Guinea.  The Latin root for the name of these mountains literally means End of the Earth.  Thankfully we don't have to travel that far anymore to add one to our collections.  Lush dark, green foliage rests on tapered pseudobulbs.  Bloom stems appear from the top of the growth in late spring and emerge to hold several green and white blooms.  The backs of the flowers are covered in prickly hairs, while the cupped lip shows dark maroon-red veins and spots.   Plants may lose some leaves during seasonal changes but should not lose all foliage unless plant is under extreme stress.  Even then, if leaves drop simply water carefully until new growth appears.

Growing Suggestions:  We suggest this as an intermediate grower.  In nature plants are found at high elevations where light is bright but temperatures are mostly cool year round.  Leaves can burn under high temperature or too bright light.  Maintain at least some water and humidity year round (no dry spell) but more is needed during the warm growing months.

We have a limited quantity of these plants happily growing in 2.5" pots.  Plants are expected to be flowering size in approximately two years.

These beautiful plants were provided by our friends at a wholesale orchid nursery in Hawaii. Because we did not raise them in our greenhouses, we can not guarantee them to be virus free as we would our own lab grown material. Otherwise, we guarantee your satisfaction and safe delivery as with other plant purchases.

This Brazilian species is considered the 'Queen of the Laelias'. The trumpet shaped lips will have colors from slate to hyacinth combined with a heady floral fragrance.  Recommended for greenhouse or shade-house culture because they will need plenty of warm, bright light to mature.
