  1. Ascofinetia Cherry Blossom

    Ascofinetia Cherry Blossom

    SKU:10564/25

    Ascofinetia Cherry Blossom

(Neofinetia falcata ‘Chutenno’ x Asctm. ampullaceum [China Orange])

A new remake of a classic miniature favorite.  The original cross yielded all soft pink and mauve blooms but this grex is also expected to add some orange coloring to the flowers giving a splash of pizzazz!  Great for small growing spaces as these will stay compact. Over time plants will produce multiple crowns for super showy specimens.

Growing Suggestions: Best suited from intermediate to warm conditions like most members of the Vanda alliance.  Plants will reach approximately 10-12 inches across when mature, and have multiple growths or 'fans' per plant.  These should be grown in hanging baskets for best results, as they will have long aerial roots.  If grown in pots, always use a well-draining open media. High humidity with frequent mistings are needed, and plants should be fertilized every third or fourth watering year round.

We have a small batch of these plants happily growing in 2.5" pots.  Plants are expected to flower for the first time within 12-18 months.

These beautiful plants were provided by our friends at a wholesale orchid nursery in Hawaii. Because we did not raise them in our greenhouses, we can not guarantee them to be virus free as we would our own lab grown material. Otherwise, we guarantee your satisfaction and safe delivery as with other plant purchases.

Den. primulinum 'Magic' AM/AOS x Den. loddigesii 'Gilbert''

    SKU:9442/40HB

    Dendrobium primulinum x loddigesii

Pendant growing plants produce waterfalls of pink and cream blooms in late winter and early spring. Plants should have a semi-dry winter rest and a slightly cooler spell to initiate buds during which time many of the older leaves will drop.  Each spring, new lush foliage emerges to start the cycle again.  Easy to cultivate and so very showy!

Blooming Size plants growing in 4" hanging baskets.  These are covered in pretty new foliage.

  6. Ladyslipper Orchid Duo

    Ladyslipper Orchid Duo

    SKU:LadyslipperDuo

Paphiopedilum 'Ladyslipper Orchid'- Set of Two Plants

For those wanting to try something new and interesting, these Ladyslipper orchids are the way to go. Culture requirements are very similar to Phalaenopsis, but they like more moisture at their 'feet'. Hybrids bred from Maudiae type parentage stay compact and won't outgrow your space. Plants have two-tone foliage and each stem holds a beautiful bloom for months.

Growing Suggestions: We suggest these for intermediate growing conditions only, either in the greenhouse or home. Low to medium light is best, with good air flow to keep leaves happy and spot-free.  Water just before the media is completely dried through (one to two times per week), and fertilize every 3rd or 4th watering except in the winter months. (We recommended alternating with Cal-Mag 15-5-15 and your regular balanced fertilizer.) Plants should not be repotted too often, and need snug fitting containers that drain well.

For a very limited time, we are offering a set of two hybrids selected for their gorgeous coloring and beautiful foliage.  You will receive one each of the plants listed below.  These are established in 4" pots, and are flowering size.  (Plants are expected to produce buds within the next 6-12 months.) Photos show what blooms may look like on these plants.

    * Paphiopedilum Saiun (Paph. sukhakulii x Paph. wardii)- Cross was made using the green or 'alba' forms of both parents.  The result is seedlings with strong influence from the sukhakulii pod parent.  The lush foliage and the flower pouches tend to show the more distinct markings of wardii

    * Paphiopedilum Wolf's Folly (Paph. wardii x Paph. Dire Wolf)-- A new cross that again uses an album species parent this time blended with a strong Maudiae-type parent.  The wardii veining is visible on the pouch

This is a specially priced offering and no further discounts or promo codes will apply.

  7. Laelia rubescens (alba x aurea) x sib *New Rare Species*

Laelia rubescens (alba x aurea) x sib *New Rare Species*

    SKU:9982/25

Laelia rubescens (alba x aurea) x sib

This hard to find species is native to Mexico and down through Central America, usually in areas with warm, bright conditions. Plants have rounded, short and rather flat pseudobulbs with thick rounded foliage.  Each fall after the summer growing period is over, tall bloom stems emerge to bloom usually by November.  This form was made using both white and yellow parents.  The results being flowers are a creamy off-white with black “eyes” in the center  Mature plants can hold multiple stems each season, with dozens of flowers making quite an impressive sight.

Growing Suggestions:  Recommended for warm growing conditions, meaning 65 degrees or warmer year round.  Plants can tolerate short periods of cooler weather if kept dry. As plants mature, brighter light will be needed than seedlings currently receive but be cautious of causing leaf blushing or burn as plants won't recover easily. We usually hang larger plants high in the greenhouse above other crops and they flower well. Well draining media is a must to avoid rot.  These are easily grown in hanging baskets or on mounts.  We also have found that a bit of a dry winter rest is appreciated in cooler climates.  Water just enough to keep roots and bulbs from shriveling.

We are offering these beauties in 2" mesh pots.  After they outgrow these containers in the next year or two they can be slid right into larger baskets with little fuss.  Plants are expected to be flowering size in approximately two years.

You can expect semi-compact to dwarf sized plants with spotted yellow blooms similar to the photo shown. The intensity of the freckles with vary but all should be colorful and unique. Suitable for mount or basket culture, and warmth tolerant.

We have found that these prefer very well-draining containers so seedlings are now happily growing in 3" mesh baskets with chunky media.  Plants are expected to reach flowering size within 2 years.
