Cattleya gaskelliana ‘Newberry Delight’ x self

    SKU:9876/25

This beautiful and richly fragrant species is native to regions of South America, including Venezuela and surrounding areas.  Highly recommended for both beginner and advanced collectors because of its sturdy growth habit and extravagant blooms.  This variety has pale lavender-pink petals and a contrasting dark purple lip. We have seen as many as four large blooms per stem, and well grown plants easily produce multiple growths per season.  Very Showy! Loves warm, bright conditions wherever possible.

  5. Cymbidium dayanum album

Cymbidium dayanum album 'Lady Elizabeth' CHM/AOS x self *In Spike*

    SKU:9233/35

We have found that the seedlings of this award winning parent are fast growers and thrive in lower light levels than most Cymbidiums, though brighter conditions will increase bud count.

Pendant stems of cream and faintly green flowers. As plants mature, multiple bloom stems are expected each year giving this excellent specimen potential.  Thin, grassy foliage that likes lots of airflow to prevent spotting.

September 2017- We are sending these in spike or bud while supplies last in this stage.

  6. Dendrobium primulinum album *Rare*

    Dendrobium primulinum album *Rare*

    SKU:8844/25

A beautiful form of this captivating species! The name 'primulinum' comes from its spring blooming season and while many seen for sale elsewhere are pink, offered here is the lovely and rare white version.  The growth habit is generally pendant, with the long slender canes hanging downward.  The blooms appear along the length of the new and old canes in late spring or early summer. Our plants are grown in clay pots with good drainage, but they can also be grown in hanging baskets or attached to mounts for a really nice show. This is a compact growing species, with growths less than a foot long when mature.

Considered easy to grow, but these will need some specific growing conditions in order to do their best.  Very bright, though filtered light is best. Brighter light will make stronger canes and more blooms.  Plants will grow well in a range of temperatures from 55-85 degrees, but they do need a cool winter period for buds to set. If they are kept warm year round plants are not likely to flower.  We give ours water year round, though summertime is more frequently and winter is more like a heavy mist.  When in active growth from April through August water well and fertilize every third or fourth watering.  In the fall and winter, give just enough water to keep canes from shriveling. Plants will drop most or all foliage each year.  This is very normal.  Usually the last of the old leaves fall just as new spring growth is emerging.

Plants in this size are large enough to flower within two years.

  9. Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi var. chattalade

Phal. cornu-cervi var. chattalade '#2' x Phal. corningiana

    SKU:10219/25

Phalaenopsis cornu-cervi var. chattalade is the intense red form of this species and was only introduced to the orchid world about ten years ago. Flower stems are evergreen and sequential. Our strain of Phalaenopsis corningiana has exceptional color and remarkable fragrance. (We can always tell when one is flowering in the greenhouse!)

We were inspired to make this primary cross in the hopes of a new generation of bold red blooms with delicious fragrance.  The already lush growth habit is likely to stay compact, and should do well in baskets with a sphagnum moss based media. Foliage is a medium green and shows some dark red and purple shading. Glossy blooms with a waxy substance will appear evergreen stems during the late spring and summer months.

These seedlings are expected to reach flowering size by next summer. Can't wait to see them bloom!
