Cattleyas

Cattleyas, the royalty of the orchid family, are native to the slopes of the Andes in South America. On the mountain slopes they have moderate days and cool nights, so they appreciate a temperature drop in the evening. They are comfortable at temperatures as low as 55 degrees at night, with days in the 70's or higher. They need bright light (not full sun) to flower. They must have good drainage, and like to dry a bit between waterings. Fertilize lightly when they are in active growth. Repot in a well draining mix, like our Cypress blends, when they have outgrown the pot or the mix has broken down (every two or three years).

Please refer to individual items for time expected until first blooming. Many of our offerings are young plants that will need to be grown to flowering size.  Unless otherwise stated in the description, items listed are not sent in spike, bud or bloom.

  1. Pot. Paxton Brooks 'Orange Surprise'

Potianara Paxton Brooks ‘Orange Surprise’ x Potinara Paxton Brooks ‘Sunset Glow’

    SKU:10046/25

We flowered so many wonderful cultivars from the original grex, we had a hard time choosing our two favorites to create this sibling cross.  These seedlings are expected to be mostly compact growers, though a few larger growing plants are expected.  Flowers will be in a range of sunset tones from orange and peach to rose and some coral shades.  Warmth tolerant but the best flower coloring can appear in cooler temperatures.  Some of these will flower multiple times per year.

We have a nice crop of plants established in 2.5" pots.

  3. Sc. Lana Coryell 'Pink'

Sc. Lana Coryell ‘Pink’ x Blc. Pastoral 'Innocence' FCC/AOS

    SKU:10210/25

Sc. Lana Coryell ‘Pink’ x Blc. Pastoral 'Innocence' FCC/AOS

We are so excited about this brand new selection!  Our favorite miniature pink Lana Coryell is combined with the stunning Pastoral 'Innocence'.  The latter parent has brilliant white blooms and has received numerous flower and cultural awards all over the world. These seedlings have been a joy to cultivate with fast growing foliage that shows a darker, glossy green.  Our aim is for very floriferous, compact plants with stems of round pink, cream or white blooms. These are showing warmth tolerance.

Very pretty plants growing in 2.5" pots.
