  2. Cymbidium Jill 'Betty Jo. AM/AOS

    Cymbidium Jill 'Betty Jo' AM/AOS

    SKU:9717M/25

This is a great favorite even after many years in our collection. A compact, quick grower that makes arching sprays of clear, green blooms with white and rose marked lips. Mature plants easily produce multiple stems each season. Warmth tolerant but still needs a slight temperature drop to induce flowers.

  3. Epidendrum nocturnum

    Epidendrum nocturnum

    SKU:10311/30

We acquired our compact growing strain from Eucagenera, many years ago. These have been fast growers and easy bloomers. Plants grow in clumps with pale cream and tan blooms that are only fragrant in the evening and overnight hours. Great for warm climates and does well with mount or basket culture.

We have Blooming Size plants in 3” mesh baskets that are large enough to bud and flower at any time.  As they mature, plants become free-flowering year round.

(We are showing a photo of what we expect flowers to appear like).

A new blue cattleya offering.  The first parent is a free flower compact grower with oversized blooms.  Lovely sweet fragrance.  The species amethystoglossa will add a cluster-style bloom habit and hopefully some blue and purple petal freckles. These are showing lush green foliage with semi-bifoliate growth habit.  Expected to mainly be winter blooms but there could be some surprises!

We have a new crop of plants established in 2.5" pots.

  6. Maxillaria variabilis (gold)

    Maxillaria Ben Berliner *New Size*

    SKU:10166/60

    Maxillaria Ben Berliner

(Maxillaria variabilis (gold) x tenuifolia aurea)

Our remake was made using the less common yellow forms of both species. We expect to see miniature yellow blooms, some with dark eyes and some with reddish freckles. The second parent is very fragrant so that may come through as well. These will prefer cool to intermediate temperatures and damp feet.  As they grow plants will become gorgeous specimens, suitable for baskets and hanging containers.  Flowers will appear mostly in the early to mid spring but plants can freely show blooms throughout the year.

Growing Suggestions: We are currently growing these seedlings in containers with a light sphagnum moss blend.  This allows constant humidity around the roots without leading to rotten or soggy conditions.  Medium to bright light is best but plants must be kept in moderate temperatures to avoid leaf burn.  Good airflow is a must for healthy foliage.

We are offering Blooming Size Plants growing in 6" plastic pots. These will not need to be repotted or disturbed for at least 12-18 months.

  8. Paph. appletonianum *Species*

    Paph. appletonianum *Species*

    SKU:PaphApple/40

    Paphiopedilum appletonianum

    ('Fox Valley' AM/AOS x self)

This wonderful species is everything elegant and dainty in a ladyslipper.  Low growing, compact foliage is pale green and silver with darker flecks.  Tall stems hold pink and green blooms that seem to float in mid-air.  The awarded parent is a high-color form and we expect these to be the same.  As plants mature they will produce clumps of multiple growths that can easily be grown as specimens. (We do not recommend dividing plants unless you have experience doing so).

Growing Suggestions:   Easy to maintain and bring into the flower. These are great for most windowsill collections, alongside other Phalaenopsis and Ladyslippers. Moderate light and intermediate temperatures.  Like other ladyslippers, roots should not be allowed to dry out.  We encourage checking for water approximately twice per week.  Plants are well established and do not need repotting until at least next spring.

We have plants well grown in 4" pots and large enough to bloom in season, late this coming winter.

  9. Pot. Paxton Brooks 'Orange Surprise'

Potianara Paxton Brooks ‘Orange Surprise’ x Potinara Paxton Brooks ‘Sunset Glow’

    SKU:10046/25

We flowered so many wonderful cultivars from the original grex, we had a hard time choosing our two favorites to create this sibling cross.  These seedlings are expected to be mostly compact growers, though a few larger growing plants are expected.  Flowers will be in a range of sunset tones from orange and peach to rose and some coral shades.  Warmth tolerant but the best flower coloring can appear in cooler temperatures.  Some of these will flower multiple times per year.

We have a nice crop of plants established in 2.5" pots.

  10. Slc. Jeanne Wilson ‘MVO’ AM/AOS *Limited Edition*

Slc. Jeanne Wilson ‘MVO’ AM/AOS *Limited Edition*

    SKU:10209M/30

    Slc. Jeanne Wilson ‘MVO’ AM/AOS

(Slc. Kauai Starbright x Sophronitis cernua)

New Limited Edition Mericlone!  This is a compact grower with sprays of bright orange and yellow blooms.  Foliage is expected to reach no more than 10" tall when mature, with rigid pairs of rounded leaves. Very nice late winter bloomer!  Will start flowering when young and get more impressive with age.

Due to the species parentage we recommend this for cool to intermediate growing conditions.  (Not suitable for outdoors in warm climates, ask us how we know...)  Medium to bright light is best.  We are growing these in mesh baskets with large grade fir bark since good drainage is a must.

We have a small crop of plants growing in 3" mesh baskets.  These are near blooming size and expected to produce first blooms within 12-24  months.
