    SKU:9378M/25

    Bpl. Fiftieth Anniversary 'Newberry'

(Bl. Richard Mueller x Epidendrum magnoliae)

Return of a customer favorite!  This mericlone is a compact grower with semi-terete foliage and sprays of golden-yellow blooms.  We have found flowering season is primarily in summer and fall but mature plants or those grown in warm climates will be free-flowering.  Which means flowering in any season and more than once per year!

Perfect for warm growing conditions and those with bright, indirect light.  Even though this plant can stay compact and bloom small it requires a good bit of light to stay happy.  Can easily be grown mounted or in hanging baskets, thanks to its Epidendrum magnoliae parentage.

We are offering Blooming Size plants happily growing in 2” mesh pots.  Plants are large enough to flower anytime in the coming year.

  2. Cattleya bicolor 'Mendenhall-Beta' 4N

    Cattleya bicolor 'Mendenhall-Beta' 4N

    SKU:7757M/25

A tall, slender growing Brazilian species that loves bright light and warm temperatures. Clusters of waxy green blooms with bright fuchsia lips appear above bifoliate foliage. These are mericlones from our presumed tetraploid 'Mendenhall-Beta'. Great coloring and incredible substance.  As with most 4N, they are bit slower growing but no less vigorous.

We are offering plants growing in 2" mesh baskets and chunky tree fern media.  We have found that this species does not take well to over watering, especially during the winter months.  Our suggestion for these seedlings is to mist heavily 3 to 4 times per week during the winter, and daily during the warmer summer months. First flowers are expected within three years.

  5. Cattleya harrisoniae 'Homestead' x Cattleya harrisoniae

Cattleya harrisoniae 'Homestead' x Cattleya harrisoniae

    SKU:10198/25

Cattleya harrisoniae 'Homestead' x Cattleya harrisoniae

This stunning species originates in Southeastern Brazil and is a lover of warm, bright conditions.  Tall, upright stems of bold heliotrope colored blooms in the middle of summer. Cattleya loddigesii and harrisoniana often have cases of mistaken identity, but this new grex is true and will flower similar to the photo shown.

Best suited for shadehouses, lathehouses, greenhouses and other well-lit growing environments.  As this species prefers a bit of a dry spell over the winter months, this should be grown in a very well draining media that can dry out, or in hanging baskets with coarse media for the roots to cling to.  If grown too damp in the off-season roots will decline rapidly.

We are offering well established plants in 2” mesh baskets.

    SKU:10204/20

    Recently registered as

    Cycatonia Newberry Pink Butterflies

Ctna. Capri 'Lea' AM/AOS x Encyclia tampensis alba

A brand new hybrid that we are very excited about.  This first to flower was a very compact plant with dusky rose blooms with cream and purple lip coloring.  We expect to see a range of bloom colors from light rose to pinkish-tan.  Hopefully some of the seedlings will carry forward the Capri petal splashes.  Regardless, these will be cute and small growing plants with tight foliage habit.  Possibly free flowering in warm-climates.

Excellent for warm growing conditions and suitable for baskets or on mounts.  The first parent has Broughtonia sanguinea in its parentage, and we have found it must have well draining media at all times.  Bright, indirect light will be best.

We are offering Near Blooming Size plants growing in 2” mesh baskets.  Plants are expected to flower for the first time within 12-18 months.

Cymbidium dayanum album 'Lady Elizabeth' CHM/AOS x self

    SKU:9233/35

Cymbidium dayanum album 'Lady Elizabeth' CHM/AOS x self

We have found that the seedlings of this award winning parent are fast growers and thrive in lower light levels than most Cymbidiums, though brighter conditions will increase bud count.

Pendant stems of cream and faintly green flowers. As plants mature, multiple bloom stems are expected each year giving this excellent specimen potential.  Thin, grassy foliage that likes lots of airflow to prevent spotting. Great for hanging pots or baskets.

These plants are Blooming Size in 3.5" pots, some are blooming now and all are expected to flower by next fall  These are ready for larger containers this season.

  8. Cymbidium Jill 'Betty Jo. AM/AOS

    Cymbidium Jill 'Betty Jo' AM/AOS

    SKU:9717M/25

This is a great favorite even after many years in our collection. A compact, quick grower that makes arching sprays of clear, green blooms with white and rose marked lips. Mature plants easily produce multiple stems each season. Warmth tolerant but still needs a slight temperature drop to induce flowers.

  9. Holcoglossum wangii

    Holcoglossum wangii

    SKU:10035/25

    Holcoglossum wangii

This rare and unusual species hails from select regions of China and Vietnam where conditions of shady most of the year, with very high humidity. Plants have terete foliage, and are usually grown pedant, with leaves hanging downward as they mature.  Bloom stems emerge on slender inflorescences, and have white petal segments with darker reddish-purple spotting near the heart.  Flowers have an open 'windmill' shape, with each petal having a bit of a twist as the base.

Growing Suggestions: Perfectly suited for intermediate to warm temperatures, usually 65-85 degrees.  Since many people grow these in baskets or on mounts, high humidity is a must in addition to almost daily watering or mistings.  Medium to bright light, depending on how much airflow is available, will be best.  Fertilize year round, every third or fourth watering. Don't repot or re-mount too often as plants do not like to be disturbed once they are settled.

We have available Blooming Size plants in 2.5" pots.  First flowers are expected in the next 6-12 months, in season.

These beautiful plants were provided by our friends at a wholesale orchid nursery in Hawaii. Because we did not raise them in our greenhouses, we can not guarantee them to be virus free as we would our own lab grown material. Otherwise, we guarantee your satisfaction and safe delivery as with other plant purchases.

  10. Laelia rubescens (alba x aurea) x sib *New Rare Species*

Laelia rubescens (alba x aurea) x sib *New Rare Species*

    SKU:9982/25

Laelia rubescens (alba x aurea) x sib

This hard to find species is native to Mexico and down through Central America, usually in areas with warm, bright conditions. Plants have rounded, short and rather flat pseudobulbs with thick rounded foliage.  Each fall after the summer growing period is over, tall bloom stems emerge to bloom usually by November.  This form was made using both white and yellow parents.  The results being flowers are a creamy off-white with black “eyes” in the center  Mature plants can hold multiple stems each season, with dozens of flowers making quite an impressive sight.

Growing Suggestions:  Recommended for warm growing conditions, meaning 65 degrees or warmer year round.  Plants can tolerate short periods of cooler weather if kept dry. As plants mature, brighter light will be needed than seedlings currently receive but be cautious of causing leaf blushing or burn as plants won't recover easily. We usually hang larger plants high in the greenhouse above other crops and they flower well. Well draining media is a must to avoid rot.  These are easily grown in hanging baskets or on mounts.  We also have found that a bit of a dry winter rest is appreciated in cooler climates.  Water just enough to keep roots and bulbs from shriveling.

We are offering these beauties in 2" mesh pots.  After they outgrow these containers in the next year or two they can be slid right into larger baskets with little fuss.  Plants are expected to be flowering size in approximately two years.
