  1. Chondranthes Andrea Niesson

    Chondranthes Andrea Niessen *Limited Editiion*

    SKU:CochAndrea/40

Unusual blooms on lush growing plants! These thin-leafed plants will be free flowering when grown under optimum conditions.  Each bloom appears from the base of the foliage, with mature plants producing multiple stems each season.  Flowers are white with mauve-lavender markings across the lip. Usually around 12"-18" tall when mature.

Growing Suggestions: We suggest these for cool to intermediate growing conditions with summer temperatures no warmer than approximately 85 degrees. Plants should be grown in low to medium light, similar to many Paphiopedilums and Phalaenopsis. The foliage is very thin and burns easily in bright light. This genus does not have pseudobulbs to retain water so watering should be done before media has dried completely. Potting media should be moisture retentive, but drain freely to avoid root rot from frequent waterings. Fertilize at half strength, even in spring and summer. High humidity is also recommended, and must be balanced with fresh airflow to prevent leaf spotting.  (May not be suitable as a windowsill grower in all homes.)

We are offering healthy, Blooming Size plants in 4" pots. We expect first blooms on these anytime in the coming 6-12 months, and some have previously flowered.

    Maxillaria Ben Berliner

    SKU:10166/35

(Maxillaria variabilis (gold) x tenuifolia aurea)

Our remake was made using the less common yellow forms of both species. We expect to see miniature yellow blooms, some with dark eyes and some with reddish freckles. The second parent is very fragrant so that may come through as well. These will prefer cool to intermediate temperatures and damp feet.

  4. Painted Leaf Orchid- Stenorrhynchos speciosum

    Painted Leaf Orchid- Stenorrhynchos speciosum

    SKU:10244/40

A most unusual offering! This compact, terrestrial species loves intermediate temperatures and light, which makes it a perfect windowsill plant. When the inflorescence starts to emerge it resembles a festive lotus blossom. As the stem stretches to its full height, individual trumpet shaped blooms are visible.   Bloom stems are usually around 8"-10" tall, with larger plants sometimes having stems reaching 20".  After flowering, leaves will start to yellow and drop as the plant enters winter dormancy.

Plants offered are happily growing in 4" pots, with the earliest buds starting to show. Blooms stems will emerge over time.
